We will develop a file system so there will be more order. For now, just try your best and take your time.

The system will make a kind of sense - it is an art form. When movies were new, they did new things with the moving picture. When they developed sound, movies became photographed plays. We are trying a new form as well as content. It is as music, graphic arts, and poetry, a new form on a new media.

RE: A general theory of Social-biology: Synergy of fission- fusion;

The Internet is the newest and most open synergy system; a new cultural life form in the evolution of the species.

The Internet works because of cooperation by thousands of developers and users exchanging information. It is also a battle for territory among tribes ( Microsoft and Netscape, the telephone companies, cable, computer companies ). This creative tension is driving and pulling the culture into a new round of cultural evolution.

There will be more losers than winners - (losers are the middle people with territorial dependencies that can be replaced; local banks, insurance, travel agencies, school information services, specialty shops: winners are the global enterprises that can bypass the middle-people in the distribution process ) that's the way it works.

Cities were built on the economy of big - the Sears tower - RCA center we now become small and spread out - the electronic village in New Zealand or South of France..

The great temples to industrial power are no longer needed and expensive central city office space no longer of value.

Social-biological science is the foundation for business, economics, political science, management, education, psychology, sociology and anthropology; the understanding of ourselves and others. Mostly social science has become descriptive without a solid base but comprising thousands of "theories" or fads.

The movement of the planets is not a "theory" or is evolution a theory but an observation.

The underlining reasons, causes, "the why" is theory, for better or worse, based on these observations.

The shortest and clearest theory, that covers the most observations, has clear advantages to our understanding ( knowledge = ( observations, information ) + understanding the connections and making a mental map of the territory. ).

The theory of creative tension works across all social and behavioral sciences, from monkeys to congresspersons ( but I repeat myself) .

Observations:

Two issues - the historic observation that during the "process" of change there are more losers than winners and second why ?

The change we are talking about is the great shifts of the means of production and distribution. Hunter gather's worked less and lived a life they had become used to over 300,000 years.

Agriculture was harder, then " might makes right " farmers became landless peasants ( most of our relatives came from peasants displaced by progress - enclosures and industrial farming ).

The shift from agriculture to industry was the mill town, child labor, and craftsmen became "/dage slaves"

After several generation some of the grandchildren of the people who survived the change were better off, but the transition was more pain than gain for the majority of those involved. It is an open question if "humanity" of 6 billion is "better off", the biosphere which supports life is "better off", or technical progress is "for the greater good of the greater number"

The second issue is why ? We all live in a "grand illusion" that the world we know is real. Our mental maps were printed on our childish brains and no longer fit the territory. We come from an industrial mass production paradigm that no longer is a guide to effective action. Few among us can abstract themselves, their needs, wants, desires, passions, hopes and roles from what they think to a "higher reality" and new world order.

It is not an individual fault but a reality of biology and psychology. Most big organizations ( fortune 500 ) will not be with us in a generation.

The ones that survive will be very different and be more like Handy's Age of Unreason clover leaf, than the temples of power that exist today.

The central means of production and distribution of goods and services will change for the 15% ( 1 billion ) people in the modern sector, only a minority will be in a position to "invent the future" and control their own destiny.

The 2/3 of the worlds population, less developed, fall further behind and can't catch up. (3.5 billion)

The 20% ( 1.5 billion) somewhere between traditional poverty and modern economics go along to get along, but lose what ever illusion they have had that they can control their own economic lives.

For the service classes, industrial workers, bureaucrats, common trades and occupations, things get more and more " out of hand " and advanced technology takes over.

The social political system can not deal with these fundamental issues. As liberal democracy was the governmental system of the industrial middle class ( from the 18th century to the present ) - the cyber-state will be run by a merit aracy - mostly outside the current "governmental structure" (Like the industrial councils of Japan and Germany )

But you can't stop "progress"?

The train has left the station: Get on board or be left behind.

History of our groups:

People walk upright - have manual skill and pre-mature births: ( babies learn more out-side than they would inside but need a long-term support system.

They are pre-mature because of their head size, with a big brain and the structure of hips and birth channel. )

People live in clans but mate across grouping: ( creating in- laws, complex alliances, and genetic enrichment )

They are sexual active, the size of males is close to females. Families values are the foundation of society. ( Self-discipline, compassion ( empathy ), responsibility, friendship, work, courage, perseverance, honesty, loyalty, faith according to Bill Bennett ) we are also tricky, devious, and too clever for our own good.

People have abstract language and signs which to talk to each others and strangers. ( If you listen you may learn something new )

The groups with the best information, maps, the best toys ( technologies ) and the social organization to connect knowledge and doing: win.

Winning people and groups cooperate, building solidarity through ritual, games and traditions, discuss relationships and new ideas within their groups; identify themselves, their status and their group with signs, ornaments and dress, (uniforms) trade and exchange information with others and compete for resources within the rules.

They learn to live in a complex of ambiguous relationships and information involving fission and fusion. (Examples: Mankarenko's "

The Road to Life " and the Bushmen !Kung tribe,

The God's must be crazy ?, motorola and Global Village Schools )

The theory: Fission-Fusion; internal cooperation,(TQM) external competition, (Just like Japan Inc. ) creates the push-pull for continuous improvements (Deming).

Effective organization ( business, schools, governments ) are built on this tension (

The federalist papers ) between solidarity inside, with the freedom to change; and competition with "them" on the outside with the rules. (Nixon failed on the last point) A delicate balance that takes judgement and experience. Winning ( the bottom line) is clearly not the "only" criteria but growth and development, learning organizations do better in the long run.

SYNERGY of the upper Pateolithic and Neolithic modern humans and the sudden "conquest" of nature by our species is explained by the connection of "thinking and doing", social and physical technologies that are learned, improved and exchanged.

The appearance of groups that were "superior" as thinkers and doers replaced those that were stuck in their ecological and cultural rut. This is true from Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon to Honda and GM.

The difference in human types must have been biological, involving breading, communications, and social-technical organization that kept traditions and ritual but encouraged innovation.

The cross breading and intertribal relationship are the engine of change. Interbred populations and corporations decay and die off.

The Internet is the newest and most open synergy system; a new life form.

RE:

The "catch-on" factor;

Aesop:

The Two Frogs:

TWO frogs were neighbors. One lived in a marsh. where there was plenty of water, which frogs love: the other frog lived in a lane some distance away, where all the water to be had was that which lay in the ruts after a rain.

The Marsh Frog warned his friend and pressed him to come and live with him in the marsh, for he would find quarters there far more comfortable and - what is still more important- more safe. But the other refused, saying that he could not bring himself to move from a place in which he has become accustomed. A few days afterward a heavy wagon came down the lane, and he was crushed to death under the wheels.

If a frog comes to the edge of your rut and tells you of a new and different place what would you do ? At least pay a visit to see if it's true ?

In James Shreeve's "

The Neanderthal Enigma" (William Morrow, 1995) he quotes Allan Wilson, who headed the team of human DNA mitochondrial research that produced the "Eve" theory.

The theory suggests that all existing people came out of Africa as a single strain of modern homo sapiens. We all are descendants from this historic "Eve" mother who was transformed from archaic humans, sometime in the last 300,000 years. If this is true, Why ?

"Ultimately it all came back to molecular mutations. In the brain there must be a mutation for the ability to "catch on", to detect fellow creatures who have discovered something and imitate it as good." Among the population those groups made up of members who had "better" brains and "caught-on" faster reproduced at a higher rate creating a positive feedback loop generating ever-faster evolution. ( page 123 )

Human evolution since the beginning of modern people has been by cultural advantages. All new technologies are tools of cultural evolution:

Stage I: ( 70,000 years) hunter gathers become farmers and herders; THE AGE OF CLANS, tribal territory, the

DREAMTIME Stage two: ( 7,000 ) improvements in irrigation, transportation, sailing and navigation, public administration and the money creates "civilizations" cities and empires; THE AGE OF EMPIRES, myths, kings and churches.

From: elin@tmn.com (Elin Whitney-Smith) Subject: Re:

The "get-it" factor

I like the frog story.

There is no evidence for any kind of farming before 10,000 years ago. I'd suggest that the sift from hunting and gathering was born of necessity (lack of game from the extinctions at the end of the last ice age)and was not an improvement in life style. Hunter/gatherers work an average of 8 hrs per week.

for more on the extinctions see:

Stage III, (700 years) cannon boring, joint stock companies and insurance, money and banking, printing, creates the nation states, imperialism and the first industrial revolution, the federalist papers and the U.S. Constitution, Newton, Kepler; THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION, iron and coal.

The age of reason.

Stage IV, or III b: (70 years ) mass production, the modern corporation, public schools and universities, Plank, Einstein, and going to the moon and back, all are examples of "catching-on" to better methods. THE MODERN Period,

The AGE OF OIL ( Chemistry and electricity )

The materialist, bottom line, structured world we come from and know.

As we layer into Stage III c, IV or V: ( 7 years ) the catch-on is to smaller warm blooded flexible cultural grouping that search for niches in a global economy. THE AGE of INFORMATION: negative feedback means the end of the age of dinosaurs mass production organizations and causes down-sizing. Positive feedback the "

Gold rush" on the Internet. A world we don't know - some of us "catch- on" faster than others. Some organizations learn faster than others.

The Age of Heretics (1996: Doubleday/Currency) is a history of the social movement to change large mainstream corporations for the better. Based on six years of research and interviews, it tells the stories of pioneers of the "organizational change" movements and the effects that they have had upon the world. It covers the years between 1950 and 1980.

Intuitive, non-verbal knowledge ( information + practice = understanding ) give significance and meaning to behavior beyond going through the motions. Science, engineering, management, the arts of medicine, music, graphics, economics, government, politics and teaching, all involve "going beyond the information given" based on comprehensions that are difficult to explain in words and use more than the last few centimeters of the cortex of the brain.

---------- From: gmneudel@ecn.uxa.bgu.edu Sent: Monday, April 15, 1996 6:47 PM To: Peter Pflaum; Peter Pflaum Subject: Re: Case Study the "catch-on factor"

I have been reading about "

The Origins of Modern Humans" with the question of what works ? Coming out of Africa, Humanoids evolved into a tool making, tribal creature that seemed stuck for 100's of thousands of years.

Then the Sapiens ( new and improved )"caught on" and human cultures took off. For eon's archaic people ( school boards ) did not ask the important questions as you do above - "is there a better way of using what we have to get what we need or want ?" First god made idiots, then he created school boards, but I repeat myself.. ( Mark Twain )

Seems stupid not to think about how to use what we have or get what we need but it is not uncommon.

The soul of experimental design is to try to find a better way and objectively measure the outcomes. Magic and religion are both forms of problem solving in creating better rituals or techniques, mental maps that guide us is using what we have, to get what we need.

The learning of new ways of doing is a paradigm depending on the abstraction of the "map from the territory" Cultural and technological maps or techniques are habits which can be improved not absolutes handed down from the mountain.

semantics

general semantics noun (used with a sing. verb) A discipline developed by Alfred Korzybski that proposes to improve human behavioral responses through a more critical use of words and symbols.

Korzybski (kôr-zîp´skê, kô-zhîp´-), Alfred Habdank Skarbek 1879+1950 Polish-born American semanticist who proposed his doctrine of general semantics in Science and Sanity: An Introduction to Non-Aristotelian Systems and General Semantics (1933).

semantics (sî-màn´tîks), [Gr., = significant], in general, the study of the relationships between words and meanings.

The empirical study of word meanings in existing languages is a branch of linguistics; the abstract study of meaning in relation to language or symbolic logic systems is a branch of philosophy. Both are called semantics.

The field has three basic concerns: the relations of words to the objects denoted by them; the relations of words to the interpreters of them; and, in symbolic logic, the formal relations of signs to one another (syntax). Among the major linguistic semanticists is Noam CHOMSKY. A related theoretical orientation has been developed by such anthropologists as LÉVI-STRAUSS. Philosophical semanticists have included FREGE, Bertrand RUSSELL, and WITTGENSTEIN. A related field, general semantics, studies the ways in which the meanings of words influence human behavior.

We have inherited a public school system, universities, a federal constitution, IRS, ( which like flush toilets which are clearly a primitive technology ) we believe in a commercial, industrial model of mass production and bureaucratic organizational power structures which get in the way of clear thinking, we have a protestant religion that sometimes is outright foolish, these are "tools" that work ( sort of) but can be easily improved.

The way we organized our national affairs, the grade levels in schools, the nature of international trade, domestic plumbing, higher degrees; are not written in stone. BUT.. people act as if they were.

We now believe that competition from the environment including open trade and information, with cooperation on the inside, produces the incentives and means for success in improving our social habits.

(Peter's comments) We have a tradition school, we need a

learning /system.

There exists a vast body of rules and procedures that waste a vast amount of resources, ( all set up with good intentions, but produce a wasteful paper war - and too much overhead ).

The clients ( stake-holders ) include taxpayers, the political system, the teachers, bus drivers, the students et al.

What do we have ?

The social system and learning system is the existing school is a terrible mess. Half of the 7th graders are functionally illiterate, there are drugs, guns, teen mothers, violence against teachers, lack of order or elementary discipline, all costing $6,000 per student per year for very little learning or character development.

The teachers do not sent their own children, and those that care and can in the community send their children to private ( mostly religious schools ).

The social reason for the existence of the institution is socialization of the young to be more effective people.

They can learn by example from an effective learning system. If the system is "/dumb" it teaches dumbness, if a fake, then fraud, if without values, then teaches vagueness and purposelessness. Quality arises from the soul of the system itself. A soulless system doesn't work.

So, how do you have soul, teamwork, honesty, quality in a secular public (open) system ? Visit Ms. Meirs district # 4 in East Harlem or see the PBS (Weisman) High School II film. Small stable groups, charter schools, a school is not a building, lots of things work - but people don't really try - or are not allowed to break the mold. You and I could work with a group of LT 50 students and come up with a workable program. SEE reform in ethos and Edward Fiske's

"Smart Schools, Smart Kids.. " One room school teachers were "smart" because they were free to be honest and use their heads. Now teachers are in chains and forbidden to "/do the right thing"

Liberty - less administration - more freedom equality - the freedom of expression and experiment, empowerment and community - working as a team with young people to achieve meaningful results - applies to all human institutions.

The profound connecting of thinking and doing is not a mystery. Remarkable people have always demonstrated the character integration of knowledge beyond self, beyond ego, and beyond the information given.

This can be learned and taught. Practice of focus, of paying attention, of relaxation, of mind control, of proactive reactions, of awareness are all well known.

The mystery is why we reject this ancient wisdom and cling to methods that don't work.

We need to make some money. I have two ideas.

One ,after May 7th we can offer facilities to people who want to teach on the Internet. Many schools, colleges, trainers, don't have facilities to do colloquium or seminars or work groups on the web. With net forum, file management systems, and the other programs we plan, we can not only offer Global Village classes but offer the facilities to others at a reasonable fee.

From my net surfing I don't see much "interactive" education or training but a lot of interest and talk.

The work you are doing with Netbios and MS developers network is very powerful and we maybe at the state of the art. Rather that everyone trying to do it themselves, many may just want to use our site.

The second idea is "training of trainers" I have dozens of "tools", materials, cases, workbook and group activities that will enrich a teachers or trainers bag of tricks. Nominal group process, communications, conflict management, creativity, innovation, group dynamics are among the common topic needed by all kinds of teachers and organizations. Maybe, we can have a road show, or do it here in New Smyrna or DeLand.

Can you train and direct responsibility ? Can you leave the choice of goals and well as methods "open"? How do you structure freedom, organize liberty, direct team work and manage creativity ?

There is clearly an interesting contradiction here. This site is open and unorganized because it is goal free.

The objectives depend on the user. Your experience will be your own.

Let go of ego - give up - of the bottom line ? of control, give up "hope" ? Hope = expect = require = demands = being understood = rewards = punishments = demands = the harder you push the more resistance you feel..but I am the teacher.. I am the boss.. I provide and example ... leadership...( but it's just too hard - I give up )

    Silence........

    Any questions, Any Answers ?

I don't care, why should I, (dance through your own hoops)

learn to deal with ambiguity in schools and in learning organizations

In this message, I want to respond to comments related to

    "ambiguity"

from several people, and open up a thread on parallels between helping people

learn to deal with ambiguity in schools and in learning organizations

I'm going to sketch out the parallels as I see them in hopes of getting some feedback based on your organizational experiences.

In a message dated 96-04-08 22:15:45 EDT, Rol Fessenden writes:

Ralph Meima says that comfort with ambiguity varies across cultures, and

that is far more acceptable in Sweden for example than in Germany or the U.S. (Peter's comment: Also has to do with styles - personality .

The "need" for order, the fear of freedom, the level of openness, is partly a biological response pattern, even in new babies. )

    <

*learn skills through instruction, practice, coaching, and feedback

*have responsibility for decisions, and learn skills for decision making

*have control over their own learning, and learn skills for self-management

*have opportunities to learn with and from each other, and learn skills for team learning

    *

have opportunities to learn from their own experiences, and learn skills for reflecting on experience

*are challenged to give reasons for their statements, and learn reasoning skills and inquiry strategies

*are supported by others as they grope around trying to make sense of things--and learn skills of empathy.

Is there a pattern here? Somewhere along the line people got stuck on "positive reinforcement" but the picture is now far more complex and interesting, and I believe, parallel in many ways to learning organizations.

Therefore what can the ' wise ' teacher (consultant) do ? Since all dogma ( theology ) is true and also false - and becomes a new prison - process becomes the message.. the media is the message - the relationships are the content - just like in physics. This is simple and hard, new and old - you know it when you see it. If you understand ( a little ) it is clear but if you don't you don't.

There are "/dHAT MATTERS" kinds of people in big companies. Let's help them surface and get things moving again!

Lets talk technology and emotional freedom:

An early example is when in the early 19th century, the American Ambassador to Spain, stole a Marino Sheep (

The modern woolly kind) and started the wool industry in Vermont. Scottish and English tradesmen brought the new ideas in weaving equipment and a major industry was born.

The population of Vermont was greater at the time of the civil war than it is today. After awhile, the same transfer took place to Australia and the industry was replaced.

The stone walls in the forests of New England, are the remains of that day.

    A old case of downsizing.

There is a mythology ( not necessarily false - after all Troy did exist ) as old as civilization.

The key is "in the world but not of it" . Leaders had to abstract themselves from social conventions and seek a "higher reality" or profound knowledge of whole systems, while "pretending" to maintain customs of the people. Higher education ( see steps on

/ visions.htm ) was a orderly process of taking a look outside the cave of shadows - beyond ego-self to something called "essence", the good, the true and the beautiful - now called Quality.

Not something hung on the tree like tinsel, but growing from the roots - in its very being.

The professors of subject matter - to teachers in schools was a long slow process.

The Goals for 2000 silly statement about being first in math and science - was so silly because of this slow technology transfer process.

    Now with the

"information" revolution knowledge When Winnie the poo and Rabbit are helping Eeyore out of the river - Eeyore says " give rabbit time and he will figure it out " People have survived ( so far ) in small groups that solve problems ( like wolves in hunting pack ). Organizational learning, has roots in Industrial dynamics and general systems (ecological roots) where there are counter-intuitive interactions. Understanding of complex systems is "profound" because the cultural assumptions don't work. People confuse the map ( mental structures ) with the territory ( what is really going on ).

The brain/body works by filling in - making assumptions and jumping to conclusions. ( Those that thought too deeply were eaten ). In times of danger and in tennis there is no time to think ..so we reach biological limits on speed and change..

Therefore, there maybe no "quick" fix or any fix at all.. only approximations moving in a positive direction.

You know the hardest part of Total Quality Management is a psychological shifting from X to Z, letting go of control. Our abilities to trust others by changing from managing to serving is really very hard. As a professor, I find it arduous to let go of teacher talk. Managers manage as they have been managed. Changing experience -- not preaching change -- is key. Slogans and pontificating hortative language is not effective Deming observes.

Alexander Lowen, a student of Wilhelm Reich, developed a set of educational tmols known as bioenergetics. Bioenergetics deals directly with experience where learning is felt in practice, not taught in theory. Dramatic changes happen fairly quickly with these methods. A program as been made of

    SYSTEMS

    There are no

    economic problems, or

    educational, or social, or

political, or psychological but only systems problems.

The whole is more than the sum of the parts.

The teachings of Deming, Peter Sange, and many others is about "general systems". We are many selves, are not just what we seem. If you are in the witness protection program, or are a spy behind enemy lines; you have been given an identity. You have a name and papers and a cover story. You like depends on convincing others you are what you appear to be. It is very common to slip into "method" acting, and almost believe the part, the role, is real and your "real" self is just a memory. That is they way it is.

Bio-politics, education and the Chemical-behavioral paradigm:

    Domination and Liberation.

It is good practice to design organizational, political, educational, training, and commercial activity with knowledge of the "newest" findings of social psychology, and the most "ancient" methods of character development. In times of change, it become necessary to think of ways to promote "reprogrammed" individuals and systems. We are in the area of great change as we move from industrial models of domination to information systems and cooperation. Fundamental change is not so simple and the evolution of culture has never been so fast. We need new techniques to deal we this kind of challenge.

There is no solution "inside the box", we have to look beyond our culturally defined ruts. (SEE Bernie Siegel, Deepak Chopra, Ernest Rossi, Carl Simonton and others

on Consciousness, Awareness, and Mind-Body Healing by Marcus S. Robinson, D.C.H.

Candace Pert, interviewed in Bill Moyers' "Healing and the Mind" (Doubleday 1995 based on the PBS series) was Chief of Brain Bio- chemistry at the NIH. She discovered new types of psychoactive drugs that are produced by the brain, endorphins, which means "morphines from within", that are similar to opiates taken as drugs.

The physical matter changes with personality. It goes both ways. " the mind is not just in the brain but is part of a communications network throughout the brain and body. You can start to see how physiology can effect functioning on a moment- to-moment, hour-by-hour, day-today basis, much more that we give it credit for." If people live in an industrial, factory system, where domination, power, and control are the commanding social conditions, they become physically different from people who work and live in an information, learning organization.

The workers of Detroit have different bio-chemical systems than those of San Jose and the silicon valley. Different groups of voters have different chemical reactions to the symbols, sights and sounds of political messages.

As a neuroscientist Dr. Pert was `secretly' interested in consciousness and became aware that the immune system produces a number psychosomatic (psyche = mind, soma = body ) chemical transmitters.

The internal information system is a biochemical, electrical network.

The messenger peptides inform and stimulate cells to produce or not produce proteins, divide or not divide, and the direct the roles of different sub-systems in complex strategies of growth, protection, and mood.

The fight-flight (stress response) is only one of many sub-systems. (Herbert Benson)

Does this mean that consultants and trainers - in general - are analysing and solving the wrong problems? Why bother everybody with 'quick fix' seminars and trainings, knowing that you will not be able to reach out , touch and change the underlying values? In other words: Why keep on doing things off which we can know that they will not work?"

How does one go about identifying and measuring these underlying values?

Seems to me they fit somewhere in a "white space" chart between what the organization says it stands for and what behavior it actually exhibits. Is there a tool or model to help with this? I'm now concerned that the values activities I've helped groups through just skimmed the surface and missed the mark on substance.

What is strange ( OH, really ? ) or comes from a new or weird sources or sighers we don't see, hear or will actively reject.

    David Halberson, (

The Next Century ), Robert Reich (

    The Work of Nations )

The Concord Coalition people, many others have been telling us we have to straighten up and fly right.

The message doesn't sell. We CAN have more of everything, NOW, said Ronald Reagan, and other happy talk salespeople; who tell us "credit problems, no problem. You want it all, we will get if for you. We are Spoiled children, over feed, over weight, over sexed, and over here ( A British saying about Americans ) Have a problem; take a pill, take a bath, go shopping, have a drink.

All societies, organizations, communities have some sort of elite or ruling class. As Halberstam points out there are establishments which are responsible and somewhat democracy or responsive to the needs of "the people"; there is optimism and hope, oligarchy is not responsive and there is pessimism and hopelessness, as in the "banana republic" we are becoming.

The "insiders" in Panama, were the rulers who lived behind their walls. (

The ruling families were Inside in fort when Drake raided Panama in 16'th century and is a book by mother, Melanie Pflaum about Panama )

The walled communities are signs of oligarchy, who rule only for their own short term benefit.

    The Problem: Social Instability

    The

Concord Coalition and William Cohen, retiring Senator from Maine, have focus on the REAL issue rather that the sound and furry of the ILLUSIONS of this political season. As Senator Cohen wrote lately the the Washington Post:

There is endless motion without movement, rhetorical enemies without interest in the consensus and compromise that produce practical problem solving.

The checks and balances have become a nasty stalemate, making for more enmity, increasing the pull of extremes, debate becomes diatribes, anger, anxiety, frustration, alienation, replace rational discourse, the chains of inaction makes for political and social check-mate.

The political system has indulged voters appetites, purchased their votes and passed the bill to the next generation. Surely we can do better ?

GAEA (mother earth) the biosphere and the Dreamtime

We are as in the LION KING, all part of a fabric of life. We are part of the mass of humanity, and we can't really escape behind walls. We are involved to the seventh generation, we may get out but we leave our children behind.

I am trying to build a class and am looking for a credit home ? Any interest in a remote class at your college ?

The class Applied Human Relations is listed with GNA (Global Network Academy - MIT).

A school, college, University could just pay me the regular adjunct professor fee per 20 students in a class. I can help recruit students on the internet.

The students would pay the fees to the college, credit or non-credit for Intro. to Social Sciences, government, Internet 101 or Sociology, or other titles that may fit. I have a textbook-workbook "Applied Social Relations" I wrote for these classes. (American Heritage, Custom Publishing Group: Electronic Bookshelf, ISBN 0-8281-0647-9)

The quality of the class will be there for all to see; because in will be in an open WEB site, the student work can be evaluated by outside experts. It will be open to public on the web. My resume in on the pages at:

    Hi Peter,

I am curious if you have studied Alfie Kohn's work in "Punished by Reward" and "No Contest"? I believe that both works are very important to all struggling to transform our education systems. If you have studied Mr. Kohn, I am most interested in your thoughts about the arguments presented in both books in relation to educational systems. Also curious if you have studied Dr. Deming's system of Profound Knowledge.

    Best wishes,

-- Jim McKinley Excellence in Leadership leaders@gulftel.com

    Peter:

They are in the references, lots of Deming, the discussion on non-competitive schooling is somewhere I think on NEW doc4.htm
