Tomorrows story today: Wiredbrain's
Reports from the future:
Windows in the cloudy sky:
What Microsoft wants to do is control the servers with a MS provided next, next generation NT platform operating system called XML but not open and universal.
The .net system works with devices that have .net codes built it. Microsoft products will run on .net as a server - client interface - XML files, XML data base, XML storage, XML index, id, calendar, updates, notifications, out in the cloud on MS XML server software doing object imbedded codes.
The applications become notations or services on the page.
The universal canvas API. Hardware drives, across all the devices and the .net controller in the a cloud. Development applications are built on the XML kits connected to the browser. This was Netscape’s vision from the beginning.. This is why MS had to kill Netscape and the NOISE group and what the browser wars was really about.
The platform is in the sky - Microsoft idea is the new version of what Netscape and SUN - the NOISE group ( Netscape, Oracle, IBM, Sun, and Everyone else ) started talking about five years ago.
The server ( web site ) company internets, the ISP, wireless devices, i-appliances, game panels, can all use audio, video, photograph, office applications - word process, presentation, spread sheets, data bases, in a interactive way using a server AGENT or personalized options given the application, the device used, and the pattern of application - on a rental or fee-for-service basics. In other words all the complex stuff is up stream - rich standards based on XML works between platforms and programs but at the server not on the PC - This is the critical and profound change.
The server in the cloud does the transfer and integration - is the platform in the sky that can work with all kinds of devices. It can take a record from one place in one format and uses it in another program in a different format guided by the smart agent. Information can be used almost anywhere from almost anywhere.
The devices can use keyboards, mouse, voice, hand writing, file transfer, clip board, as inputs as well as agent intelligence on the server and user interface.
Gates for the first time emphasized the Web browser as the central application of computing. Echoing remarks made by counterparts Marc Andreessen and Scott McNealy four years ago, Gates said the network is even more important than the computer.
Microsoft is creating an advanced new generation of software that will meld computing and communications in revolutionary new ways; offer every developer the tools to transform the Web and all other aspects of the computing experience; and enable businesses, knowledge workers and consumers to employ technology on their own terms.

AND has been for almost a year - I am now sorting into major pages and
will cut this page down. This page is a link to other resources and topics,

or we have the MS IE net meeting established you can contact me on pflaump@cfl.rrpflaump@cfl.rrpflaump@cfl.rrpflaump@cfl.rr.coml post my IP # on talk at 14:00 ( Monday to
Friday ) Also once you have the program on IRC /join #synergy and on netscape's
Cool-talk. This puts you fully in touch. We than can talk while you have
a browser window open and down load and set up what ever else we need.
Then we move on the web home page of your own that you can ftp to the site
and download to edit.
When I am on line my computer is connected by
a PPP ( point to point ) connection, using Direct dial function in Window
95. My computer is identified as IP # 153.34.154.164 for example, but this
number changes every time I sign on. That is called a dynamic IP. Some
service providers will assign a fixed IP. All URL's are fixed IP in domains.
Trevista, is a domain registered with fixed addresses, for mail, browsers,
FTP, etc.All information going out and coming
in comes in packets, at 28.8 packets per second, with this IP as my address.
There are several ports with different protocols.
The WEB, pages, come
in theses packages and is the most common with browsers like Netscape,
or Internet Explorer using HTTP ( hypertext transfer protocol ) with Java
or Active-X scripting tools on the new versions.
Other applications on the Internet
are E-mail, that sends this letter from my mail server to your mail box
using a old but stable system. Newsgroups, list servers, FTP ( file transfer
) IRC ( chat boards) all use their own systems. Netscape has integrated
FTP, and real audio, into its browser. I-phone ( Internet voice phones)
CuSeeMe, VDO ( running video ) and other applications have their own codes
and have to be added to a browser as plug-ins.
Therefore, unless my machine
and your machine have the ports set up and the codes we can't communicate.
For Example:
Dialpad.com is the world's first free Java-based web-to-phone service. With
Dialpad.com, you can make unlimited free phone calls to anybody in the US as long as the other party has a valid phone number. Dialpad.com works just like your own telephone. You can make phone calls to any phone number in the US. Furthermore, you don't need to manually download and install any software. You can make any call while your are browsing the Internet and it is FREE!

There is a weird power in a spoken word” (Joseph Conrad). Something eerie inspires inexplicable fear or uneasiness that seems to result from a sinister influence: “At nightfall on the marshes, the thing was eerie and fantastic to behold” (Robert Louis Stevenson). Uncanny refers to what is unnatural and peculiarly unsettling: “
The queer stumps . . . had uncanny shapes, as of monstrous creatures, whose eyes seemed to peer out at you” (John Galsworthy). Something unearthly seems so strange and unnatural as to come from or belong to another world: “He could hear the unearthly scream of some curlew piercing the din” (Henry Kingsley).
* Another Broadband Alternative -- More acronyms: LMDS and
MMDS.
These are technologies for deploying high speed Internet
access using broadcast radio waves -- think of it as wireless
cable or wireless DSL. A few areas, such as New York City and
Silicon Valley, already have some limited implementations. But
according to the Oct. 26 New York Times
(http://www.nytimes.com/library/tech/yr/mo/biztech/
articles/26internet-wireless.html), a new big-name consortium led
by Cisco plans to give cable and DSL companies a run for their
broadband money -- and they point out that their terrestrial
radio-based MMDS (Multichannel Multipoint Distribution Service)
solution doesn't require digging up any streets or placing
equipment in the difficult-to-enter telephone company offices.

THE RUMOR: NDA ( Non-disclosure agreement ) next
month Apple, Netscape SuiteSpot and many others will implement cyberdog
within a Windows95 context. (with cell modem ( or digital connection to replace the analog )s for ADSL some time in the
near future): 80 % of the attention has been paid to 20 % of the market
- the real money and influence of the Internet will not be in Media, entertainment,
advertising live T.V. but in office applications, the trillion dollar gold
rush.
What this adds up to is
fast, integrated Internet and Intranets applications in a office suite
application package coming this fall and being fully operational by 1997.
That's why Microsoft is in such a scramble to occupy as much space as it
can for Office 97 NT which "tries" to do the same thing. See http://www.wiredbrain.net/
POINT CAST ( www.pointcast.com
) will package with Windows 96, Internet explorer and Microsoft Office
96 and along with AltraVista's personal search engine creates a very powerful
package. You can find almost anything anywhere and using Net Meeting (
also to be packaged ) work on it with any file anywhere, internet s and
Intra nets.
POINTCAST will do the up
dates and provide information flow, MS office document, data, graphic and
sound and video production, AltaVista file management on and off site,
and net meeting, conference and long distance communications. Local Service
providers will have software connect with I-phones and made local and 800
calls. This by passes the long distance companies who may fight or join
the scramble. You use conference software to connect to a server in Hong
Kong and it makes a regular local call for you. We are very close.

ADSL Transmits at 10 Times
the Speed of ISDN Using ADSL, customers can transmit information to and
from the Internet, or to and from remote offices, securely through the
Internet at 10 times the speed of Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN),
which operates at 128 kbps, and about 50/50times faster than a 28.8 kpbs
dial-up modem ( or digital connection to replace the analog ). For comparison, a 2 megabit(Mb) file -- or the equivalent
of 100 pages of text -- can be downloaded in 1.5 seconds using ADSL; 15.5
seconds using ISDN, and 70 seconds using a dial-up 28.8 kbps modem ( or digital connection to replace the analog ). ( It
takes me about 10 minutes 600 seconds on 28.8 )
GMS - ISDN
global remote cell phones using
ISDN quality will be on the market soon.
The use of cell modem ( or digital connection to replace the analog )s rather
than phone lines can't be far behind - with uplink s in your neighborhood
or down the cable or as part of sky cast ?

evolved to foster effective and dynamic interaction within a changing environment,
to eat and not be eaten. To see what you need to see, to hear what you
need to hear, to feel what you need to feel and react quickly.
The Internet
mass communications business is just the same.
They are the electrical
and chemical transmitters for global business and social interactions.
How can we help social systems be more effective at doing what they do
and do what they have never even dreamed of doing. It's a new art form,
a now life form.
SYNERGY is where everyone
( well almost everyone wins ).
Ruth Benedict's
concept was of societies that made participation worth while for most people,
rather than the " powers to be" hedging it all and setting the rules to
benefit themselves. Sharing, empathy, honest,
liberty,
equality, in the division of the spoils are functional attitudes vs.
greed, uncaring, anti-social, individualist, slavery, domination etc.
The
business you are in is

with others to get the job done, the computer/telecommunications/Internet
business is going to make that faster and let you do new things not done
before. "Citius, Altius, Fortius" - Latin meaning "Swifter, Higher, Stronger"

The central point that it
should be easy using the http format to have full integration of the office
suite. He assumed as did most people that it will take mid-band connections
( up to 10 times faster than the dial up ) to run video. And there he is
on video ( not very good video but video ). IDNS line prices are dropping,
